1 March - Clean-Up on Aisle Everywhere

Whoooweee - we moved a LOT of rubble today!  It was a scorcher, too.  But smiles were more in evidence than drops of sweat.  Everybody is tired and dirty and happy.  It may not get any better than this.  The kids were all around to play with, and we did so.  Jon, Dawn, and Dee took their traveling Hokey-Pokey show to the very homes of several kids.
Almost all of the rubble is outside the church area now, but there may be 5% left for us to work on tomorrow.  We need to take down a small toilet structure in the back corner, too.  The site engineer visited today.  He said that on Thursday he is bringing wood to make the forms for the footings of the new church.

  1. Thank you for sharing your pictures. In less than 3 weeks (March 19-26, 2011), I will be traveling to La Tremblay with a mission team from Michigan to continue the church / security wall project. We scheduled in Petionville for Sat/Sun and work M-Thur at the project site. Blessings. EGordy

  2. Dear EGordy,
You will likely have a very good time in La Tremblay. We have had a ball playing with the kids. Today we bought 4 bags of bread (200 Gourdes, or about US$2.90) and brought a big jar of peanut butter so we could give the neighborhood kids something to eat at lunchtime.
Material to build concrete footings is supposed to arrive tomorrow. We may have time to do a little work with it, but maybe not. At 10 we're expected at the school (about 100 yds down the highway). We were supposed to stay in the school, but there is no suitable toilet. I hope that deficiency is rectified before you arrive, so you can stay at the school instead of making the long, dusty commute each day as we have done. We'll leave some names and faces on the blog for you to greet for us when you arrive.
